Our music is a blend of new & old
Many people really enjoy the praise and worship time at church on a Sunday morning. We do, too! Our praise team mixes it up with the style of music, including old hymns, brand new praise songs, and not-so-brand-new praise songs. In all songs, Christ is praised!
You can dress casual and drink coffee
Many who attend the worship service (and Life Groups) dress casually, while others dress up a bit. Sometimes, people wear the jerseys of their favorite team. You are welcome whether you dress casual or dress up. Grab a coffee, hot chocolate, or hot tea at the counter in the lobby. What matters most on Sundays is that we gather as a church family to worship Jesus and share God’s word.
We practice the Lord’s Supper every Sunday
The reason we worship on Sundays is because of what Jesus did for us on the cross. So, a central part of church every Sunday includes taking time to remember and recognize that Jesus died for our sins and made it possible for all of us to be right with God. Taking “communion,” with fellow believers in Jesus keeps us centered in our worship.
We Share the Love & Message of Christ
Parkview Christian Church is an active church in regards to the message and mission of Jesus. Ministries include a Monday morning food pantry, a Wednesday morning Breakfast for high school students and teachers, and several annual efforts to help those in need. We share the message of Jesus in our weekly services, monthly outreach efforts, our missions focus, and annual events that preach the gospel of Christ!
What We Believe about Important Stuff
The Bible
We believe the Bible is the inspired story of God’s saving work on earth. It is an accounting of the past, truth for the present, and hope for the future. We believe that as it was originally written, and when properly interpreted, the Bible is true in all that it affirms, whether it relates to doctrines, ethics, or the social, physical, or life sciences.
(Hebrews 4:12; 2 Timothy 2:15; 2 Peter 1:21; 2 Peter 3:5-6)
God
We believe God created everything. Without Him, there would be nothing at all, no physical laws, no particles, no objects, no universe, and no beings like you and me. We believe in one God existing and understood through the Persons of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
(Genesis 1-2; John 1:1-3; Deuteronomy 6:4-5; Matthew 28:19; Luke 3:21-22)
Salvation
We believe everyone has inherent worth in the eyes of God, but that all of us have sinned and have fallen short of the glory of God (Romans 3:10, 23).
We believe it is impossible for religious actions or our own efforts to make us right with God or to save us. None of us are better than anyone else and all of us are completely unworthy before God because of sin. It is only by the grace of God, through faith, that a person can be saved. This is not from ourselves, but a gift from God (Ephesians 2:8-9).
We believe that God’s gift of grace is offered to everyone through faith, and that Christ’s sacrifice on the cross was sufficient to atone for the sins of the entire world, for all time, for all people, once and for all. (John 3:16; Romans 3:24-26; Hebrews 10:10-12; 1 Peter 2:24-25).
We believe that receiving God’s grace through faith means putting our faith in Jesus for everything, committing the rest of our life to follow Him, and expressing this outwardly by confessing our faith and being baptized
(John 3:16; Romans 10:9; Acts 2:38; Galatians 3:27).
The Gospel
We believe the most important message for our world today is that God is reconciling people and the world to Himself through faith in Jesus. In the beginning, God created human beings in His image, but the Bible describes that human beings were separated from God because of our sin. The results of sin are clearly seen in the suffering and death and heartache present within this world. Yet, today all people everywhere can be forgiven and restored to a relationship with God by turning to God through faith in Christ, who sacrificed Himself for the sins of the whole world once and for all. Through Jesus, the suffering of this present world will eventually be completely and fully overcome.
(Genesis 1:26-31; Romans 5:12; 2 Corinthians 5:18; Hebrews 10:10; John 3:16; and Revelation 21:4)
Jesus
We believe in the deity of Christ, through whom everything was created. We believe Christ is God who became a man. We believe in His virgin birth, His sinless life, His miracles, His atoning death on the cross, His bodily resurrection, His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and His personal return to judge the living and the dead.
(John 1:1-3; Matthew 1:8; 2 Corinthians 5:21; 1 Peter 2:24; Romans 14:9; Luke 24; Acts 1:9-11; Revelation 1:7)
Holy Spirit
We believe in the presence of God’s Spirit through whose work the universe came into being. We believe the Holy Spirit is at work around us and in us. The Holy Spirit leads people to Christ, convicts us of sin, guides us through decisions, comforts us in struggles, instructs us in God’s word, grows us through experiences, and can be seen in every believer through gifts, ministries, and actions.
(John 14:15-18, 26; John 16:7-15; 1 Corinthians 12:4-7; John 7:38-39; Acts 2:38; Romans 8:4-6, 14)
The Church
We believe that when we receive God’s grace both inwardly and outwardly, we also become part of God’s family, His Church throughout the world. A local church is part of God’s global Church. Thus, it is vital that we also participate with a local church and serve the Lord alongside others. We believe that the Church is empowered and motivated by the Holy Spirit, and is intended to preach Christ’s message, teach His commands, and do His work on this earth. We believe the Church is meant to be an extension of Christ and His ministry to the world, and an oasis of God’s kingdom on the Earth. We are called to serve and love others just as Christ came to serve and give His life for others.
(Matthew 20:25-28; 1 Corinthians 12:12-31; 1 Corinthians 13; Acts 2:41-47)
